Here is the thing about cost: it usually comes down to waste. We do our own quartz tube fabrication and electrode sealing right here. Because we control the glass blowing, we can spec the thickness down to the exact micron for your specific operating pressure. It’s a precision game. If the glass is too thin, it blows out under thermal stress. Too thick, and you’re wasting money. By getting it exactly right, we keep the scrap rate low and the lamps tough.
Power vs. Lifespan (The Balancing Act)
You probably want maximum wattage and a lamp that lasts forever. In the real world, you usually have to pick one. If you push more current through a shorter tube, you get more heat, but you’ll chew through those electrodes way faster. We spend a lot of time calibrating the gas fill and the filament alloy so you get the output you need without the lamp burning out the moment you turn it on. **Just a heads up:**if you crank your lamps to 110% to speed up a curing line, they’re going to die sooner. Make sure your ballast settings actually match our specs, or you’re just asking for a premature failure.
